Now a magnificent Landsmót hestamanna 2011 is over and this time we sat here in Denmark and watched it on the computer instead of sitting in the hill of the competition field. It would have been amazing to go this time as horses related to us and horses in the family played a good part in it. In the 5 year old mare class Valdi's mother and sister's mare, Kolka from Hákot, came to Landsmót with the highest score of 8,51.

Álfhólar also had a good day at Landsmót as thet came with a breeding groun on the friday night and where then chosen as one of the to best breeding groups of Landsmót and were invited to come again in the evening show on saturday after the tölt competition. For some reason the proprioters of landsmot.tv didn't think it important for people who werent at Landsmót to be able to watch this part so sadly we couldn't watch Álfhólar being honoured.
Valdi's cousin Sara also came with her gold nugget, Díva from Álfhólar, in the 7 year old and older mares, but she came to Landsmót with two 10, one for tölt and one for willingness and temperment.
But it was equally fun to watch the amazing horses that took part in the finals in tölt, B-class and A-class. There were stars like Alfa from Blesastaðir 1A, Karnorka from Kálfholt and off course Ómur from Kvistir, but we of course got our blue dun mare last summer from him. That makes him the second Landsmót A-class winner that we have used in our breeding before they won Landsmót, but we had also already ordered a spot for Aris from Akureyri earlier in the summer before he stood as the winner of the Landsmót 2008
In other news, Denmark is treating us very nicely, all the exams are done for now I have started working while Valdi still works on his masters project. His brother Fannar came for a wisit in june and we took a little road trip around Denmark and down to Germany. This in one of the pro's of living here, the travel opportunities are drasticly different from home.
We also had the sad thing happen that our hopefully future stallion from Sólarorka and Þrumufleygur, but she gave birth to a brown male, disapeared from the field. So we might start her training this winter as we are very interested to see how she turnes out. Our stallion choises for the year are also made and we are expecting one, or possibly two foals next year. But now it's only Þrá that is still with foal and we don't expect her to foal until late.
We are doing some riding here in Denmark and helping some people with their horses, amongst them is Nift, who when Valdi started with her she had had no tölt training and didn't know how to tölt. Today she is transformed, as you can see.
